Every sankalpa (aspiration) finds its roots in sadhana (dedicated, conscious practice). Without sadhana, we only have vikalpa— wishful thinking, ego’s delusion.
More so in the spiritual path, although our mundane pursuits are not exempt from this. How many times have we asked the Divine for change, only to withhold meaningful action when the time comes?
How many say they want to be empowered — only to find the next ‘spiritual savior’ to rescue them for all personal accountability? Do you pray for your troubles to be taken away… or ask for the strength and wisdom to surmount them?
We live in a time of excesses and instant gratification. People just want more and more. Lately this seems to include MORE spiritual knowledge and information and ‘esoteric secrets’… we consume for the sake of consuming, indiscriminate of what we put into our minds and systems. Is that truly empowering to you? Or do we feel more ‘secure’ just to have it first, because ‘just in case’?
Is it a wonder then, so filled with excess and miscellaneous junk, we can no longer discern clearly what our own truth is? Why is it the more we know the more we need to further consume?
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is enough to be king.
So:
In the land of the unconscious desperate and hungry, the one who knows inner fulfillment becomes king (or queen).
May your sadhana guide you to true fulfillment, and understand what being truly nourished feels like.
Enjoy the dance with Maya, the Great Prakriti — but don’t be utterly consumed by Her fathomless beauty that you forget why you are here in the first place.
See. Where did you leave your sadhana already?
